The Netherlands remembered its Entire world War II dead on Tuesday, with commemorations at war memorials nationwide.
The day of remembrance culminated in two minutes’ silence on the Dam in central Amsterdam, where by king Willem-Alexander and queen Maxima laid a wreath.
Other wreaths had been laid for users of the resistance, common citizens who died, troopers and service provider navy sailors.
On Dam Sq., exactly where about 100 invited visitors attended the ceremony, prize winning spoken term artist Amara van der Elst instructed of descending from two distinct cultures, and of ‘the wounds beneath the pores and skin that do not heal’.

Comedian and actor André van Duin spoke about growing up in Rotterdam in the aftermath of the Entire world War II and about attending Remembrance Day commemorations at the Homo Monument near to the Dam.

‘The point that we have experienced these types of a monument since 1987, as the initial men and women in the entire world, is a image of our flexibility,’ he claimed. ‘The flexibility that anyone can be by themselves. All people, with out other folks owning nearly anything to say about it.’
